Projects
*St. Marks School*
St Mark's educates about 420 pupils, of whom 135 are orphans.
Through sponsorship, AAD
provides education, two meals a day, a uniform and a pair of
shoes for each orphan, as well as ensuring that teachers are
paid and facilities developed.
*Equipping Pastors*
There are about 60 pastors in East Kasese District. AAD funds pastors’ training and provides bibles for those without one. It also finances and supports Bible teaching conferences and seminars for married couples and young people.
*Resourcing Women*
Kasese and its surrounding region is affected by the consequences of HIV/AIDS and many widows care for large numbers of extended family. There are over 110 widows in East Kasese District so as well as spiritual encouragement, AAD is presently supporting these widows by providing piglets—now self sustaining—and funding the building of pigpens. AAD also provides funds for these widows to be trained in pig management. Pig breeding enables widows to provide for their families and with the proceeds many of them have already bought essential items such as soap, cooking oil, mattresses, blankets and corrugated iron roof sheets, in addition to providing school fees and digging latrines.
